Meet The Team - Dr Amber Christie

Dr. Amber Christie

Dr, Amber Christie is a highly compassionate veterinary GP, with three decades of veterinary experience. With a profound love for animals evident since childhood, Dr. Amber embarked on her journey in veterinary medicine after completing her Bachelor of Veterinary Science at the University of QLD. She followed this up by completing her membership in feline medicine here in Australia and then further qualifications in London, UK. She has also gained a master’s degree in wildlife medicine and conservation and she has a deep passion for our Australian fauna and flora and supporting their ongoing biodiversity.
Throughout her 30 years in private practice, Amber has demonstrated unparalleled skill and proficiency in diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical and surgical conditions affecting companion animals. Her empathetic approach towards both pets and their human companions fosters a nurturing environment where every patient receives personalised care tailored to their specific needs.

Dr. Christie’s areas of expertise span across various disciplines, including internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, and preventive care. She is particularly renowned for her medical diagnostic skills and enjoys the challenges that her medical patients bring. Her career has also seen her work span across the globe, working in the UK, Europe, South Africa, Thailand and of course here in Oz. She has worked with most species of animals, including a stint in South Africa working with wildlife and learning to dart wild animals from helicopters. It’s been an exciting journey now she continues to bring this passion and enthusiasm for veterinary care to Tewantin and its surroundings.

Beyond her clinical duties, Amber is keen to be out and about enjoying life outdoors with her family and friends. She loves eating out or cooking at home to enjoy around the dining table. Dinner parties can get loud! She is kept busy with her two young children and you will see them all in the clinic at times when the demands of being a working mum mean having kids at work is the new normal. Amber loves the challenges running a business can bring and she can’t wait to meet you and your fluffy pets in the clinic.

Brooke Goodwin

Hey, I’m Brooke, a dedicated and compassionate Practice Manager and Senior Veterinary Nurse with 15 years of experience in providing top-notch care to our furry friends. My journey in veterinary medicine began with a deep love for animals and a desire to make a difference in their lives. I started Vet Nursing after completing year 12 with a traineeship at a privately owned small animal clinic in South Australia. It is here where I discovered the importance of a solid leadership team and support through training and guidance from knowledgeable team members.
Throughout my career, I’ve dabbled in Emergency and critical care but have spent most of my time in General Practice. Every day, I bring enthusiasm and passion to my work, whether I’m comforting a nervous patient or assisting in surgery. I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge with my team-mates and encouraging nurses to further their skills.

My goal is to create a comforting and nurturing environment for pets, their owners and my team, fostering trust and confidence in our clinic. As a fresh business owner, I look forward to the journey of learning and growth. Filled with rewarding moments and making a positive impact to our community.

In 2019 my family and I sold up and travelled Aus in our caravan. After spending some time on the coast and falling madly in love with the lifestyle we decided to stay put. When not at work, you can find me with my two boys and hubby enjoying time in the sunshine at the beach or watching the kiddos on any type of board! Lucy and Buttercup, our two pet chickens also hold a very special place within our family.

Meet The Team - Zara

Zara

Zara is a dedicated and empathetic veterinary nurse. Her journey in the veterinary field began with the arrival of Murphy, her cherished Border Collie. Originally from Adelaide, South Australia, she obtained her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and has accumulated over 3 years of experience in two general practice clinics. Zara enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing, but her main interests are nursing ward patients and surgery.

Zara developed a fondness for the Sunshine Coast during a three-month journey along the coastline in 2018. This sparked numerous holidays there, eventually leading her to relocate from Adelaide in June 2024. She quickly became a valued member of the Neighbourhood Vet team. Outside of work, she enjoys beach outings, running with her dog, and exploring the coastal region whenever possible.
